Nargis Fakhri’s sister Aliya denied bail after being arrested for allegedly murdering ex-boyfriend and female friend; actress’ mother REACTS

Aliya, the sister of Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested in connection with the deaths of her ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs, and his friend, Anastasia Star Ettienne, who perished in a fire in Queens, New York. Nargis has not addressed the situation publicly, but her mother has come forward to defend her sister, Aliya.

Authorities allege that Aliya Fakhri intentionally set fire to a two-story garage, leading to the deaths of Edward Jacobs and his female friend from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. She has been denied bail and faces murder charges. District Attorney Melinda Katz characterized the incident as a deliberate and malicious act. She stated, “This defendant maliciously ended the lives of two people by setting a fire that trapped a man and woman in a raging inferno.” She further noted, “The victims tragically died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries,” as reported by Daily News.

While Nargis has not spoken on the issue, their mother expressed her disbelief regarding the allegations. The mother claimed, “I don’t think she would be killing someone. She was a person who was caring for everybody. She tried to help everybody,” as reported by various news outlets.

Aliya pursued Edward Jacobs after breaking up

The Post reported that Jacobs’ mother confirmed that Edward Jacobs and Aliya Fakhri had ended their relationship a year before the tragic event. Yet Aliya allegedly continued to pursue him. The report made it clear that Jacobs and Ettienne were merely friends, not in a romantic relationship.

A significant witness account from the crime scene revealed that one person attempted to rescue Anastasia. But had to leap over a barrier to escape the fire. The witness recounted that Anastasia re-entered the burning structure to save Edward Jacobs. They described Aliya and Edward’s relationship as abusive, which is thought to have contributed to the deadly fire.

“…We had to jump over it to escape. Star jumped over with me, but then she went back in to save [Jacobs]. It was an abusive relationship. She had told everyone before that she was going to burn his house down, that she was going to kill him. We just laughed it off,” the witness said, as reported by multiple media outlets.
